Be the person God wants you to be.
Find your purpose.
No one else can do the job you were designed to do.

Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

Peace and Blessings be with you,

I hope you enjoy the information on my website and find it useful. It is a work in progress.

My passion is helping people achieve all they can in life and empower them with knowledge, skills, and resources to be lifelong learners.
You are never too old to learn something new.
You don't know what you don't know!

I have a Masters in Secondary Education, a Masters of Business Administration, and am a NC licensed teacher in Math, Science, and Business Technology.

After graduating from New Mexico State in Las Cruces, NM, I moved across the country and became the MIS Director  and Technology instructor at Carteret Community College in Morehead City, NC.

I earned my MBA from Wake Forest University and had a 17 year career with First Union National Bank (Wachovia/Wells Fargo) as a Sr. Consultant / Project Leader in Information Technology, training, support, systems development, and corporate reporting.

I am a Microsoft Office Specialist and certified in WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint. I am currently an Adjunct Technology Instructor for Craven Community College.

After leaving the bank, I  returned to teaching  as a Lateral Entry Business and Technology teacher in Charlotte. We moved to New Bern in 2007 and I have taught in Jones and Craven County.

My wife is  Jodi and we were married in 1983.  We raised 8 children as foster parents and now claim 12 grandchildren.

I was born in NY, spent my teenage years in New Mexico, lived a short time in California, and have called North Carolina home since 1981.

I have been a Team Leader with
TheEdgeInstitute.org (TEEI.org) since 1998
conducting cultural and educational exchange programs between China and the United States.

I was awarded the First Union Excellence in Education Award for service to the Charlotte, NC schools; chess, reading, and Junior Achievement programs. I love teaching and promoting  scholastic chess and am a certified USCF Tournament Director.

I have also  served as a coach, regional, and state judge for Odyssey-of-the-Mind, a problem solving competition. (NCOM.org)

Most recently, I am  helping the City of New Bern Police Department with a Youth Chess program called the Noble Knights and have links on my website: NewBernChess.club.

I have served as an Adult and Youth Sunday School teacher.

My other interests are: travel, reading, cooking, poetry, helping others, sharing about China, and the restoration of our home and Jodi’s art studio  in the Historic Riverside neighborhood of New Bern, NC.
