Spreadheet Overview

Microsoft Excel is a know as a Spreadsheet Application program.
It has many features and options that the "average" person might never use.
It can be used to design complex business models and process lots of data.

A "File" is a Workbook and and it can be made up of multiple Worksheets.
WorkSheets are tables. Rows are numbered and Columns use Letters.
A Box or CELL is referenced with a "ColumnRow" identifier.
A table can have Headers. There can be different tables within a sheet.

A Cell can contain: Text, Numbers (Values), dates, Formulas and Functions.
A Function is a "built in" command for processing Data.
They are divided into different categories.

The data is a Cell can be formatted in multiple ways using various attributes and edit masks.

It uses the Menu Tab / Ribbon interface.

Besides being good at processing data, the Drawing and Picture tools that are in WORD and PowerPoint are also available here.

It can be complicated in that you need to understand how math operations are performed and how tools such as Copy / Paste and Autofill can be useful but also cause unexpected results.

Many of the standard CONTROL key combinations will work for editing and formatting.

The ability to produce Charts (Graphs) for visual representation of data is also relatively easy to generate, yet every feature of a Chart can be customized (if desired).

It is very useful for Sorting and Filtering and Summarizing tables of information.
